Weighted Curls with Medicine Ball Although basic curls, or crunches, as they are often called, represent a decent way to flatten tummy muscles, many individuals are looking for a way to improve upon this simple routine. One way is to do weighted curls with a medicine ball. This routine provides a bit of extra resistance through the means of a weighted medicine ball, which is usually about the size of a basketball and can come in a variety of different weight levels.
After choosing the weighted medicine ball of his or her choice, the individual lies on the ground in a normal crunch or abdominal curl position, with back and feet flat on the ground and knees bent to form. Holding the ball to his or her chest, the participant then flattens the small of his or her back to the floor, contracting the abdominal muscles and lifting the shoulders a few inches off of the ground. After holding the utmost position for a couple of seconds, the individual then lowers his or her shoulders back down again, repeating the weighted curls with medicine ball enough times to constitute a full set. Again, the extra weight of the medicine ball should make the curls an even more effective way to flatten tummy areas.
