Plank There are a host of different workout routines designed to help participants flatten tummy areas by promoting the loss of fat and the improvement of muscle tone. One such routine is the Plank, an exercise that gets its name from the rigid position held by the participant. In order to use the Plank as an effective means to flatten tummy muscles, one should make sure he or she is doing it correctly. Here is how to do so.
To do the Plank exercise, one must put his or her body into what essentially amounts to a push up position. From here the individual moves from supporting his or her body with the hands to supporting it with the forearms resting flat on the ground. This position represents the Plank, and merely holding the body straight for a period of 10, 20, 30, or even 60 seconds will prove to be quite challenging, despite how simple the exercise might sound at first. The Plank implicates multiple abdominal muscles and should prove to be beneficial to those who use it consistently. As time goes on and participants gain strength, they can make the Plank more challenging by holding the position for longer periods of time.
